Djunungguyangu (Dugong)


This story is associated with fire and dugong. The patterns represent fire and the dugong are a prized food. Ancestral stories tell of hunters chasing the dugong, dugong hid and the under water fire that caused the water to churn and boil upset the hunters canoe. The painting also alludes to alliances between Yirritja clans in the East Arnhem land.
