There is a lightening snake at Gangan. It travels from the freshwater towards the salt water, heading towards Braltja. The leaves of the Gadayka (Stringbark) float in the water following the same direction. They also lay on the bottom of the river. When the snake (Gaytj) gets closer to Braltja it spits into the sky (lightening). The snake is speaking the land (Mandarriwanga). These are sacred designs/patterns (Gamanunggu) for the fresh water, the leaves and the salt water, and when the waters are mixing. We sing and dance this story, its about the land.
