There is a lightening snake at Gangan. It travels from the freshwater towards the salt water, heading towards Braltja. The leaves of the Gadayka (Stringbark) float in the water following the same direction. When the snake (Gaytj) gets closer to Braltja it spits into the sky. The snake is speaking the land (Mandarriwanga). These are sacred designs/patterns (Gamanunggu) for the fresh water, the leaves and the salt water, and when the waters are mixing. We sing and dance this story, its about the land.
This is my style, I have learnt the patterns from my Mari (Mothers father) and this painting represents his land.
